The Story Behind MUBIL
One Experience. A Lasting Commitment.
The story behind MUBIL Education and Empowerment Foundation began while its Founder, Kafayat Animashaun, was studying at university in Maiduguri.
During that period, she lived near a family whose eldest daughter, Hauwa, was ten years old and not attending school. Concerned about the child’s circumstances, Kafayat offered to support her education. The family explained that Hauwa was expected to be married within a month.
Hearing this was devastating. At an age when a child should have the opportunity to learn, grow and discover her potential, Hauwa was facing a future that had been decided for her.
The experience stayed with Kafayat and strengthened her determination to support girls whose opportunities are limited by circumstances beyond their control. She resolved to work towards a future in which girls would have greater access to education, guidance and the chance to make informed choices about their lives.
That commitment led to the establishment of MUBIL Education and Empowerment Foundation.
Through school outreaches, speaking engagements, mentorship and educational financial support, MUBIL Education and Empowerment Foundation works to encourage girls and support their development.
It represents a lasting commitment to helping girls navigate education, personal development and the transition to adulthood.
The name MUBIL combines the names of Kafayat’s late parents, Muyideen and Bilkis. It honours their memory and gives the Foundation a deeply personal meaning.
For MUBIL Education and Empowerment Foundation, the commitment remains clear: to help create opportunities for girls to learn, grow, make informed decisions and build independent futures.
